| Cavity Wall Wall Ties are an integral part of cavity wall construction, without them the wall would simply bulge under load as the two leaves separate. Wall ties used to be galvanised instead of stainless as used today which has a habit of flaking thus corrosion of the steel tie commences. This is a common problem in the Norwich area, especially with cavity constructed properties built pre 1990. Solid Wall Norwich terrace houses are generally constructed with solid walls in Flemish or English bond the two leaves are held together with bricks at 90 degrees to the face. These tie bricks are generally soft Norfolk reds which easily break through thus breaking bond. Norwich terrace houses have over the years been subjected too a variety of traumers such as the War and the huge infatructure of chalk mines (remember the double decker bus that fell in a sink whole on Earlham Road) Both the above situations can be remedied and we have approved methods of doing so so if you are suspect of have been advised then please call for a free estimate.
